Areas of Practice
-
Hallie believes your spiritual beliefs and practices are a meaningful part of who you are. As part of a whole-person approach to care, she offers the option to integrate your faith into the therapeutic process—at your pace and in the ways that feel most authentic to you. Whether that includes prayer, biblical principles, or mindfulness rooted in your values, Hallie is here to support you as you draw strength from your faith in the moments you need it most.

Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND), also known as Conversion Disorder, is a condition where individuals experience real neurological symptoms—such as weakness, tremors, non-epileptic seizures, or difficulties with movement or speech—without a structural brain disease explaining them. These symptoms are very real, often distressing, and can significantly affect quality of life.
FND is best understood as a disorder of nervous system functioning rather than structure—where the brain has trouble sending and receiving signals properly. While the causes are complex and can involve psychological, neurological, and physical factors, the good news is that FND is treatable.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, Hallie provides specialized therapy for individuals living with FND, using approaches that are grounded in neuroscience and tailored to each person's experience. Treatment may include psychoeducation about the brain-body connection, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mind-body techniques, and support for managing related conditions like anxiety, trauma, or depression.
Our goal is to help you better understand your symptoms, reduce their impact, and restore a greater sense of control and function in your daily life. Recovery is possible—and we’re here to help you take the next step.

Managing a chronic medical condition as a young person can be incredibly challenging—physically, emotionally, and socially. Conditions like diabetes, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, gastrointestinal issues, or unexplained medical symptoms can impact every area of life, from school and friendships to identity and independence. Many young people living with chronic illness also experience anxiety, depression, isolation, or grief about the life they expected versus the one they’re navigating now.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, Hallie provides specialized therapy for adolescents and young adults coping with chronic health conditions. Hallie recognizes that healing isn’t just about the body—it’s about emotional resilience, self-advocacy, and learning how to live fully, even with ongoing symptoms. Hallie’s therapeutic approach includes evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mind-body techniques to support emotional well-being, pain management, and stress reduction.
Hallie helps clients build skills for coping with uncertainty, navigating the healthcare system, and improving communication with doctors, family, and peers. When appropriate, Hallie involves families in the process to strengthen understanding and support at home.
Chronic illness can feel like it takes over your life—but therapy can help you take some of that life back. You are not your diagnosis, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Anxiety is a natural response to stress—but when it becomes overwhelming, persistent, or interferes with daily life, it may be part of an anxiety disorder. These disorders can show up in different ways, including constant worry, panic attacks, social fears, or specific phobias. While anxiety can feel isolating or even paralyzing, it is also highly treatable.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, we specialize in evidence-based treatments that help individuals manage and reduce anxiety. Through approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies, we work collaboratively with clients to understand the roots of their anxiety, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build practical coping skills.
Whether you’re experiencing generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, or a specific phobia, therapy offers a safe and supportive space to regain control and confidence in your life. You don’t have to live at the mercy of anxiety—help is available, and healing is possible.
-
Eating disorders can develop during some of the most important and challenging years of life—adolescence and young adulthood. Whether it's restricting, bingeing, purging, or obsessive thoughts about food, body, and weight, these behaviors often reflect deeper emotional struggles like anxiety, perfectionism, low self-esteem, or a need for control.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, Hallie specializes in working with teens and young adults to understand what’s behind the eating disorder—not just treat the symptoms. Hallie offers a supportive, age-appropriate environment where young people can feel seen, heard, and safe. Hallie’s therapeutic approach combines evidence-based treatments like Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E), Family-Based Therapy (FBT), and mindfulness-based techniques to treat the eating disorder, help clients build healthier coping skills, and reconnect with their bodies in a positive way.
Recovery from an eating disorder takes time, support, and the right tools—but it is possible. At Functional Life Psychotherapy, we’re here to help young people break free from disordered eating and build a healthier, more functional life—inside and out.

Depression can deeply affect how young people think, feel, and function in daily life. For adolescents and young adults, these challenges often show up as intense sadness, irritability, low energy, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty concentrating, or emotional ups and downs that feel hard to control or understand.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, Hallie specializes in helping young people navigate the emotional storms of mood disorders with care, compassion, and clinically proven support. Hallie works with each client to create a personalized treatment plan using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions. Hallie helps teens and young adults develop emotional regulation skills, build resilience, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and identity.
Hallie also recognizes that mood disorders don’t just affect the individual—they impact families too. When appropriate, Hallie includes caregivers in the process to strengthen communication, reduce conflict, and build a more supportive home environment.
Mood disorders are real, and they are treatable. With the right support, young people can learn to manage their symptoms, build meaningful lives, and feel more like themselves again. We're here to help make that possible.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects more than just attention—it impacts motivation, emotional regulation, time management, organization, and self-esteem. For adolescents and young adults, these challenges can interfere with school, relationships, work, and everyday life, often leaving them feeling misunderstood, frustrated, or overwhelmed.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, Hallie helps young people with ADHD better understand their unique brains and develop the tools they need to thrive. Hallie’s approach goes beyond managing symptoms—Hallie focuses on building executive functioning skills, strengthening self-awareness, and promoting emotional regulation. Using evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), skills training, and mindfulness-based strategies, we work collaboratively to turn insight into action.
Therapy also provides a space to address common co-occurring issues like anxiety, low self-esteem, or academic and social stress/issues.
ADHD doesn’t define who you are—but learning how to work with it, not against it, can change everything. With the right support, young people can learn to manage challenges, leverage their strengths, and build a more functional, empowered life.

Trauma can affect every part of life—how you think, feel, relate to others, and see yourself. Whether it's the result of a single overwhelming event or long-term experiences like abuse, neglect, medical trauma, or loss, the impact of trauma can linger long after the danger has passed.
At Functional Life Psychotherapy, Hallie provides specialized trauma-informed care for adolescents and young adults. Hallie’s approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based methods like Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), other trauma-focused interventions, and mind-body techniques. Therapy helps clients process what happened in a safe and supportive space, build emotional resilience, and reconnect with a sense of safety, trust, and self-worth.
Healing from trauma is possible—not by forgetting the past, but by reclaiming your voice, your strength, and your future.

Do you feel like no one prepared you for all of the “fun” that comes with “adulting?” Maybe you are trying to figure out your calling, feel stressed about the pressures that come from high-stress academic/career environments, are experiencing low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and/or difficult family dynamics. If any of these things sound like you, rest assured, you have made it to the right place. Hallie is here to support you.
-
When a child or teen begins therapy, it’s not just their journey—it's a family one. Hallie believes that parents and caregivers play a vital role in the healing process, and she partners with you to provide guidance, insight, and support along the way.
Through regular check-ins, parent consultations, and collaborative goal-setting, Hallie helps you better understand your child’s emotional needs and behaviors, strengthen communication at home, and develop effective tools to support your child outside of therapy. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, behavioral challenges, mood shifts, or health-related concerns, Hallie offers a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you as well.
You don’t have to do this alone. Hallie is here to support both your child and you—every step of the way.
